Supported till the end: in the severe struggle Russia gave way to the Croatian national team

At the FIFA Fan Fest™ a new attendance record high was set and the Family Day was celebrated.

Already more than half a million people have visited the FIFA Fan Fest™ on the Volgograd Central Embankment. On 7th July the Venue was overcrowded – thousands of citizens and Volgograd guests came here to support the Russian national team. Overall attention was focused on the historical match conducted at the “Fischt” stadium. Our national team played against Croatia. This day on the football field of “Samara Arena” stadium also an exciting match Sweden vs England was held.

The FIFA Fan Fest™ Venue became crowded with spectators long before the matches start, everyone intended to take places and to participate in this great football event. More than 42,000 people visited the FIFA Fan Fest™ that day. A special program was prepared on the 7th July – the Family Day was celebrated on the Central Embankment!

The guests proved again that they adore football! Representatives of various generations: sons and dads, grandmas and grandpas – all of them got involved in the big game. The guests could take part in family football strata – to compete in juggling a ball, to train perfect kicks towards the goal and to pass a special relay.

Football is a family affair that is why amazing presenters and the event guests recollected famous football dynasties! Sons often continue their fathers’ deeds. There are many examples: Paolo Cesare Maldini, Arnor and Eiydur Gudjohnsen, Pablo and Diego Forlan and certainly Dmitriy and Denis Cheryshevs. The son of the famous Moscow “Spartak” player demonstrated his skills in the Russian national team at the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018™.

The main football event of this busy day started in the evening. On a giant screen of the FIFA Fan Fest™ the spectators followed every minute of the immaculate football Russia vs Croatia. Each challenging moment was supported by great applause of the fans and the sound of these emotions spread far beyond the Central Embankment. The players of two the teams created a fantastic and spectacular action: there were challenging moments from both the sides but the Croatian national team was stronger.

Sweden 0 – 2 England;

Russia 2 (3) – 2 (4) Croatia.
